In some ways, one could say that chiropractic care is a bit like building a house - certain things have to happen in a particular order in order for everything to stand strong and work together correctly. These concepts apply to your body as well, and chiropractic care addresses many common reasons why people experience pain and other health issues. If something is not right with your body's foundation, than that needs to be addressed before true health can be achieved. With chiropractic care, your body has to go through a particular plan of care in order to repair itself correctly and fully. There are three general phases of chiropractic care . . .and we don't wear hard hats in the office.
When you come into our Smithtown chiropractic office, our first objective is to figure out what is causing your problem and to help you get well. There are those with acute, new, problems and those with chronic ones. Some cases are easy some are hard.
Following a detailed history and a review of your health records, you are examined. Additional tests, if clinically needed, to safely treat or to establish a diagnosis are ordered. If our doctor feels you need to see a different specialist we make arrangements for you. The doctor then puts that information together and develops a plan to treat you.
If you present in pain we attempt to help you reduce it. Depending on the severity of your underlying condition which is causing your pain, you may need a more frequent care plan. Our focus is on getting you in less pain as quickly as possible. We monitor your condition at each subsequent visit and during progressive reexaminations.
As your pain levels decrease and your movement more normalizes we help to support your muscles and other tissues to heal more completely; which helps prevent further injury or pain. We will need time to teach you stretches and exercises to help you stay well according to your goals. There is not a typical patient in my office - care and treatments do vary. Chiropractic care will include appropriate chiropractic adjustments and therapy as needed. Like other physical medicine initially you will see us more and those visits generally taper off over time. Every four weeks we reexamine you and discuss your progress and treatment goals.
Wellness is chiropractic! Once your body has healed, or your condition remains stable, most of our patients keep well by coming in for periodic chiropractic adjustments. Usually, this phase of chiropractic care only requires a quick visit to the chiropractor 1-2 times per month, based on your lifestyle and health goals. We don't forget that it is about you!
Remember to tell others about us...and thanks for stopping by.
